Former US President John F. Kennedy’s grandson, Jack Schlossberg, became the focus of controversy this week after posting a series of offensive social media posts, which culminated in an odd joke involving Vice President J.D. Vance’s wife, Usha Vance.
When Schlossberg announced, “I’m having a son!!” on X (formerly Twitter), on April 6, 2025, the commotion started. I’m thrilled about this. Today was the happiest day of my life, and I am eagerly awaiting the birth of my next child. Yes, out of wedlock. However, we might end up getting married.
On Instagram, he repeated the same message with the caption, “We named Jason Schlossberg! 5 pounds, 0 ounces. April 6, 2025.
When Schlossberg posted a photo-shopped picture of Usha Vance holding a baby with his own adult face partially covering the child’s head on Instagram, the situation became even more heated. “Little Jason and his mom” was the caption for the photo. You never feel prepared to have children. Until you become one one day.

A side-by-side collage of Schlossberg and the Vance family was published by People magazine in response to this digitally altered image. In an apparent attempt to clarify his intentions, Schlossberg then reposted a screenshot of the coverage with the caption, “The joke is that I’m capable of producing a male heir.”

The posts quickly drew criticism from social media users. One commenter on X wrote, “You’re an embarrassment,” while another said, “What a troll, his grandfather would be ashamed….” “Delete this, and get help,” a third user advised him.
Even though this incident caused the most noticeable backlash to date, Schlossberg had previously made provocative references to the Vance family. He made reference to his own grandmother, former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, when he tweeted on January 20, 2025, “True or false: Usha Vance is way hotter than Jackie O.”

He made another contentious post the following day, saying, “I’m a literal pervert.” Have I completely lost my mind after calling my grandmother “hot”? This child will stop at nothing to get attention, Jesus. Your grandfather would feel embarrassed. Really. It’s time to find employment.
Schlossberg posted another Photoshopped photo of Usha Vance kissing his cheek in early March with the caption, “My love, my sweet Ushie.”
In a televised interview with MSNBC host Jen Psaki, Schlossberg discussed his online conduct and shared details about his social media approach. He admitted to purposefully evoking responses, stating, “It’s hard to make an impression on the internet. particularly if you’re not making a controversial or at least unexpected statement.
“I make posts that I think are funny or silly but have a purpose—either to make you think, ‘This guy’s crazy,’” he continued. Why is he speaking in such a manner about his own family?
“To be honest, then you get all these retweets, quotes, and everybody flips out about it—and I think that’s kind of the game that the other side’s been playing really well,” Schlossberg said, going into further detail about his philosophy. It’s nearly half the fight to flip people out and get a response.
Schlossberg mentioned his previous social media posts that targeted both Vice President J.D. Vance and his own cousin when asked who he most enjoys trolling: “The hey J.D. videos did pretty good online.” However, I believe that my cousin RFK Jr. poses a threat.
